Blood:
Act quickly if you notice bloodstains by rinsing as much as you can with cold water as soon as possible. Then, in cold water, make a solution by mixing 2 teaspoons of dishwashing liquid. For rough bloodstains,
store-bought solutions like oxi-clean work well.
Ink:
Gently dab the stain with a clean cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Make sure you aren't rubbing too hard.
It's also possible that nail polish remover would work. Whatever solution you choose, make sure to test a
small area of the carpet first and then rinse the spot.
Water-Soluble Stains:
Use a solution of 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon ammonia or 5 parts water and 1 part chlorine bleach to
clean vomit, wine, or chocolate. Just use gentle soap and water on a wool-blend carpet.
Wax, Oil, Fat and Gum:
Start by freezing gum or wax with ice, then hack away at the bits with a knife. Place a paper towel over the
wax, fat, or oil stain and iron over it so the stain sticks to the towel.
Glue:
Using a cotton ball, gently apply alcohol to the stain. Wipe the glue away with a soft cloth while it's still
wet.
Food, cola, dyes and alcoholic Beverages:
Use white vinegar to make your cleaning solution, or opt for a store-bought stain remover like Oxi-clean.
